Airedale Terrier Breed History

airedale terrierThe Airedale Terrier most probably originated in the Aire Valley region of Yorkshire in England and was bred to be a jack-of-all-trades, not only to perform traditional terrier roles of hunting down furry varmints such as otters, foxes and badgers, but also to serve as a watchful companion who would protect home and hearth from intruders.

This is a large and very lively breed! And goes by another apt nickname, the ‘King Of Terriers’. The breed that we see today has changed quite a bit from their early ancestors, but continues to be a favorite among those who love their active and enthusiastic demeanor.
